Find a good way to wear baby on your back, and continue dinner prep! For my preschooler, a shower or bath while I prep helps him settle down. Guess this only works if the bathroom is in vicinity of the kitchen!

Before I (ok, my husband) starts dinner, I put out a plate of veggies and dip. We all can munch while we cook together (I might be catching up on work in the corner) but it keeps us happy and is a healthy choice so if my toddler doesn't want to eat dinner, at least I know he was eating carrots, peppers, and cucumbers just before!

We also encourage dancing and helping with the prep (our son loves to stir which he calls "ehh ehh" like if a cartoon verbalized stirring...). There are still days where complete meltdowns occur but little things really do make huge difference!
