I have a 9 and a7 years old… so far I followed more or less my gut feeling. I am realising just now, that I had a concept in my head: being friends with my kids. And also I gave them too much opportunity to make decisions… I guess this concept was leading my gut feelings. Now I am realising that wasn’t the best idea, and starting to make new decisions but this is totally against my feelings, because I have to be more strict. My personality is so far from that, but I see now, this aspect of a parent is also crucial… So I am still thinking…. where the gut feeling comes from… how reliable it is….

There are no perfect parents, and there is no perfect way to raise a child. I have found it’s about feeling good about the choices I have made and sticking with them for consistency.
