Hi,
I clicked on this link through Kate’s FB page (the above commenter). While I do not usually comment on blog posts, I feel compelled to on yours…
I couldn’t agree more! My son takes everything to heart and when he hears people say “you’d better be good or Santa won’t come”, he used to get upset and ask me if Santa would really be that unfair. We had a chat and now, he turns to me with a smile and says “I know that’s just something some parents say to get their children to behave”!!

I’m so glad to see someone else has “issues” with Santa! I completely agree with the behavior aspect, but what also gets me is how the kids think he can bring any and everything, how they don’t understand sometimes we just simply can not afford to go all out! It breaks my heart when other kids get more or less than other children, that’s really hard for kids to grasp!

I totally agree! I mentioned the other day that I hate the song “Santa Claus is coming to town” (even though it is quite catchy 🙂 ). It suggests kids can’t show genuine emotion even in their own homes, with their loving parents (‘you better not pout, you better not cry…’) because Santa’s always watching! Also, it’s just creepy to think ‘he knows when you are sleeping, etc…’ I want my kids to know they are loved unconditionally and that even though they’re not perfect, they deserve gifts and joy on Christmas day!!

HA! I posted an Elf on the Shelf pic on Instagram and at least two people commented on how creepy she looked! (It was a she. 😉

I agree about not “using” Santa this way, poor Santa! Thanks for another great reminder!
